Doppelgangers
Doppelgangers are mysterious shapeshifters who have been discovered occasionally around Prasinos. While they have natural forms, they rarely let themselves be seen this way.
They possess a unique talent for telepathy (detect thoughts at will) that they use to assimilate and also to shield themselves from suspicion.
Reputation
Doppelgangers are usually only discovered upon their death. Not much is known about who they are or what they want - or if they even want anything in particular as a group.
Doppelgangers are thought to insinuate themselves into families and communities by killing a member of the community and taking their place.
Doppelgangers may take on the appearances of others, but do have a natural form that they may revert to in some circumstances.
A doppelganger's natural appearance can range from being almost identical to their non-doppelganger parent to having the build of their non-doppelganger parent and completely grey, translucent skin. In either case, a doppelganger's eyes are always black and lack reflections.
Doppelganger Culture
Doppelgangers go out of their way not to stand out. When a doppelganger is discovered they are most often occupying the guise of a simple neighbor.
Doppelgangers detest other mind-readers, other doppelgangers most of all. A doppelganger who has established themself in a community will not tolerate another moving in and if they don't leave of their own accord one will almost always kill the other.
Doppelgangers in Religion
The House of the Broken Heart believes the First Doppelganger is involved in one of the three sins that turned Avandra away from Prasinos.
They also believe The First Doppelganger still walks Prasinos, invisible to gods including the Raven Queen and thus unable to die.
