Spectator

You are a member of the Spectator’s Guild. You observed the celestial titans in combat, taking notes of their fight patterns and making predictions for the length of days, changing of the seasons, and the approximate end of the world. Through the years you have gathered all the necessary skills needed to give people the time of day.

Skill Proficiencies: Insight, Perception
Tool Proficiencies: Cartographer’s tools, Navigator’s tools
Equipment: A set of artisan’s tools (one of your choice), A Spectator Uniform, A Spectator Badge, a pair of solglasses, a small leather notebook, a piece of charcoal, a belt pouch containing 10 gp

Spectator Fancy Spectators serve a necessary function in the world of Arcadia. It is also a very boring one. Each Spectator holds an outlook on the celestial battle, to keep themselves invested enough to watch it all day, every day.

Feature: Time of Day

You are experienced enough to reliably predict how many hours are left in the day, and how many remain until morning. You also know the pattern of the seasons before they happen. You can do this as long as the sky remains visible to you. As long as you are in your uniform and your credentials are prominently displayed, common people will defer to your authority on the subject of time.

Suggested Characteristics Spectators choose patient, well-tempered individuals to join their ranks. The stress of watching for any signs of a possible extinction event, and the long stretches of extreme boredom, have been known to weigh heavy on the mind.

d8Personality Trait
1I often look to the sky and loudly make unprompted predictions.
2I am calm and patient to the point where people need to check if I’m okay.
3I get annoyed when people don’t understand or respect what I do.
4I am very confident in my predictions.
5If I can’t see the sky, I get nervous.
6I am constantly working through new predictions in my notebook.
7Years of watching slow-motion mortal combat have desensitized me to violence.
8I am, like, 90% sure I know when the world is going to end.
d6Ideal
1Duty. What I do is necessary for the world to function. If we didn’t do what we did, it would all fall apart. (Lawful)
2Control. My trade is so valuable people will be willing to do anything to keep me around. (Evil)
3Knowledge. I have always wanted to know more about the world, and answer the questions we still have about it. (neutral)
4Thrill. I actually think all this end-of-the-world-stuff is a lot of fun! (chaotic)
5The People. I do what I do to help the people thrive. (good)
6It’s A Living. Gotta make money somehow, and I got good peepers for this. (any)
d6Bond
1I deliver valuable information to the common people.
2My life is dedicated to learning new information about the titans.
3I’m under the thumb of a powerful ruler.
4I work to ensure the future of my guild.
5My off-hours drinking buddies are some of the finest philosophers you could ever meet.
6I actively search for new recruits.
d6Flaw
1Years spent living in an isolated watch tower have driven me insane.
2I refuse to back down from my position, even when proven wrong.
3Watching slow-motion combat has left me woefully unprepared for real-time combat.
4I can’t read a room, and will talk about the apocalypse even after people start to panic.
5While on duty I have witnessed cosmic horrors which have left permanent mental scars.
6I wrongly believe that my skills as a Spectator translate to every single task I do.
